On the Boards | Design Victoria Festival 2025
Steve and Chelsea spent an incredible weekend at the Design Victoria Festival hosting one of the West Coast Modern League's On the Boards talks with Julian Carnrite and Bruce Greenway. Attractors: 30 Years On with Siamak Hariri
The West Coast Modern League welcomed Toronto-based Siamak Hariri, architect of the soon-to-open Marianne and Edward Gibson Art Museum at Simon Fraser University Burnaby Campus. Siamak shared this and many other projects undertaken over the past 30 years of practice.

An Afternoon at Arthur Erickson & Nick Milkovich's Choklit Townhomes
Choklit Salon, organized by the West Coast Modern League as a fundraiser for its public programs and initiatives, featured an afternoon at the Arthur Erickson and Nick Milkovich-designed Choklit Townhomes, with special guests Nick Milkovich, and an exquisite art collection curated by homeowner Bruce Munro Wright.

Exploring Sunshine Hills Modernism
We had the pleasure of speaking to the International Baccalaureate Visual Arts class at Seaquam Secondary to talk about local architecture, mid-century modernism, and artistic processes. The talk was precipitated by the class' exploration of Sunshine Hills Modernism including one of euoi studio's recent projects. It was an absolute delight and man those young humans were thoughtful, funny, and inspiring.

Chelsea moderated a conversation critically exploring the architectural RESTOMOD with renowned local designers Sophie Burke, Fook Weng Chan, and Mark Ritchie. Pulling from their experiences taking on sensitive and innovative renovations to significant modern homes in the region, this discussion probed the varied and divergent approaches used in the act of restoring our modern architectural history while modifying to contemporary technologies and standards of living.

The afternoon was capped off by remarks from architecture writer and League founder Adele Weder with pre-eminent Canadian architect and board member John Patkau.

In his work with the West Coast Modern League, Steve introduced multiple Vancouver premiere screenings of Beyond the Life of Forms, a story dedicated to two works by two great architects of the twentieth century–Carlo Scarpa's Brion funeral complex is San Vito d'Altivole and Aldo Rossi's San Cataldo Cemetery in Modena.
