The Swanson House is a family retreat set high atop a steep cliff with dramatic views overlooking the Southern Gulf Islands. The project consists of renovations to modernize the existing home and to construct an auxiliary fitness and music studio nestled into the surrounding trees. The design aims to reorient and open up the primary living spaces to the stunning array of surrounding views, to strengthen visual and physical connections to the outdoors, to improve flow and circulation, and to modernize the material palette throughout.
